Things to think about and ask before you buy your new children's furniture
1 - What materials is it made from? Solid wooden furniture is actually very
difficult to come by, unless it's pine which is not particularly suited to life
in a child's bedroom as it is susceptible to warping in a centrally heated
environment. The most common type of furniture in the UK sadly is laminated
furniture, this entails coating air filled chipboard with a plastic sheet. While
this type of furniture is light and easy to move around it is unlikely to live
through any disassembly if you move house and if you break the laminate then
it's likely for chipboard chippings to come loose. Solid MDF furniture is the
most suitable for a child's bedroom as it can easily withstand central heating
and being disassembled multiple times, both Cilek and Meblik children's furiture
is also specially coated to protect it from scratches and fading in UV light.
2 - Is there a warranty? Check the small print - most furniture in the UK is
covered for 30 days while most defects are unlikely to show in under 6 months. A
30 day guarantee also says a lot about the retailer's confidence in their

3 - Colour or not to colour? Remember that you're furnishing a child's bedroom,

without flipping a safety switch, but you may be surprised - ALWAYS check this
if you're fitting out a young child's bedroom.
