Plum Products Frequently asked questions
I see you sell a range of Plum Product products. Do the products come with a warranty?
Yes. Plum provide a warranty with the majority of their products. Please see each individual product advert for full details.
Is there an additional delivery charge?
All Plum Product prices include delivery to UK mainland addresses. For postcodes outside of mainland UK, please contact us.
Play Centres, Play Systems and Climbing Frames
I am interested in one of the play systems. Are they self-assembly?
Yes. All of the play centres/systems in the Plum range are self-assembly. Whilst self-assembly is made easy, we would advise that a keen DIYer assemble the products.
Can the Play Centre be placed on grass?
Yes. Grass is a perfectly acceptable surface so long as it is level. You may want to consider access for cutting and maintaining grass. Further, grassy areas can be easily worn and become very muddy during wetter weather. Surfaces you may wish to consider include bark chips, rubber chipping and rubber matting. Bark chips can be purchased in most garden and DIY centres and represent a relatively inexpensive option. Rubber Chipping and matting can be more expensive. If you have trouble locating a source of supply, please contact us.
Are there any other factors I should consider when deciding where to place my Plum Play Centre?
Yes. You should allow a border of approx 2m around the play centre to allow space for the swing span. Therefore, they should not be placed abrupt to a garden wall or any other object. If possible, consider a shaded area of the garden to reduce the amount of direct sunlight your children are exposed to. You should also take into account the height of the centre, particularly when a child is playing on the swing, therefore consider the proximity of trees or any overhead telephone cabling.
What are the Play Centres made out of?
See each product advert for full details. The Plum range uses Cedar in the more expensive ranges, with Maple and Southern Yellow Pine in the value ranges. Maple and Southern Yellow pine are softer woods and may require some treating after being outside over winter. Further, the softer woods are more prone to splitting. Such splitting is a natural character of the wood as is not treated or considered to be a defect.
What is the delivery service?
Delivery is based on a Doorstep only service. This means that you will need to arrange for help to carry the product into your garden. The carrier will call you to advise when shipping is to be made so that you can make appropriate arrangements.
What ages are the Centres suitable for?
The manufacturers recommended age is for 3-11 years. Please see each product for more details.
What if a slide or swing breaks, can I replace it?
Yes, we offer a full range of accessories, all of which can be purchased separately.
What tools are needed?
You will require the following tools for home assembly:
- power screw driver
- marker pen
- tape measure
- 5/16 drill
Plum Wooden Swimming Pools
Are these pools suitable for the whole family?
Yes. As with any pool, you should follow all safety guidelines, for example, ensuring that young children are supervised at all times.
Do they need to be installed by a pool engineer?
No. They come with instructions for you to carry out basic assembly. If you have any difficulties, the manufacturer operates a technical support line. Contact us for details of this.
Can they be inserted into a decking frame?
Yes. A lot of people choose this option with great results. When designing your surround, you should consider pump access etc.
Can the water be heated?
Yes. The price includes a solar water heater. It also includes a thermal cover to help stop the water cooling too much overnight.
Can the pool be placed on grass?
The manufacturers advise not. The best surface is a flat concrete base, therefore some preparation prior to delivery and installation is necessary. Ground felt is provided as part of the kit.
How are the pools delivered?
As with the Play Centres, the pools are delivered on a kerbside only service. Therefore you will need to arrange for sufficient help to carry the item through to your property. You will get advanced notice of delivery to enable you to make appropriate arrangements.
Trampolines
Does the trampoline require assembly?
Most of the trampolines require some adult assembly but the manufacturer has made the job as easy as possible and a spring loading tool is also included.
Can the trampoline be left outside during the Winter?
The materials used in the trampoline are designed for all year round exposure. Made from heavy duty polypropylene, the safety pads are weather resistant and UV treated. Covers are not actually required but can be used to keep leaves and other debris off the trampoline.
Are accessories available?
A complete range of accessories including covers, safety enclosures, ladders, fixing kits and showerproof tents are available as separate items or as part of the great value combo deals.
