Furniture Delivery Service – Together We Can Manage our Carbon Footprint!
Our Service and the Environment
As a company we are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint and minimise our impact on the environment. We consider our delivery services to be key in the achievement of this objective and this has led us to completely overhaul how we deliver our furniture to you.
The challenge we face is to provide you with a service that is prompt, efficient, timely and user-friendly. All of this whilst enabling us to continue to offer free shipping on all items to mainland UK, whilst always ensuring that our impact on the environment is kept to an absolute minimum.
In short, we think we have achieved this. This is how it works and it is beautifully simple:
- We have worked with our suppliers to ensure that the products are packed perfectly at the outset. Sounds obvious, but not everyone does it.
- We have recruited a warehouse and operations team who together have over 20 years operational and logistical experience is shipping delicate items such as furniture. Through their experience we collate your order and pack it further in a robust and highly protected format.
- We have partnered with two leading logistics and supply carriers with existing local and national networks who can offer a full national and pan-European services.
- Because we use a national network, we can keep the carbon footprint to a minimum. Our partners carry all kinds of other products and will no doubt be delivering numerous parcels in your street, area of town, town etc. Therefore we are piggy backing onto a journey that was going to take place anyway, resulting in potentially tens of deliveries, one of which will be yours.
How does this reduce the carbon footprint?
Easy. Many furniture sellers promote the fact that they use a dedicated furniture delivery service as one of their unique selling points. We cannot argue that for some people this may be the service of choice, however, it does mean that your order may well have resulted in a long journey by that company simply to deliver your furniture and only your furniture. This is more harmful to the environment, adds to your carbon footprint and to that of the company you purchased the furniture from.
So what happens when my furniture is delivered?
Our carrier will have called you to agree a delivery date and approximate time. Your furniture will be delivered on a pallet or series of pallets, depending on the size of your order. Your srbWorld Personal Furniture Adviser will inform you of this at the point of dispatch. The pallets will be lifted off the lorry and brought onto your premises by way of a pump truck or pallet truck. You will then be asked to sign to accept delivery. As with all our delivery services, we ask that you mark the paperwork/screen as “UNCHECKED” to reflect the fact that you have not had the chance to inspect the items at this stage.
You will then need to take the furniture into your property. We would therefore suggest that you agree a delivery slot when there is more than one person at home who can assist in carrying the items individually into your home.
Any shortages or damages must be reported to srbWorld within 7 CALENDAR DAYS of signing for receipt. Any shortages or damages reported after 7 days will be dealt with at srbWorld's discretion.
What happens to the pallet and packing materials?
We ask that you make arrangements for these to be recycled or re-used. All of our packing materials, including boxes, filling materials and bubble wrap materials are 100% recyclable. Your Local Authority may take these away with your standard collections. Alternatively, they can all be recycled at your local recycling centre details of which can be found at: http://www.recycle-more.co.uk/
Why don’t we take them away?
Unfortunately, this service can only be offered through a specialist furniture delivery company. We have chosen not to use them because of their large carbon footprints and the consequential damage they cause to the environment.
