Frequently asked questions
Q1: How and where can/should the electric cars/jeeps/quads be used. A: These are battery powerd childrens toys, driven by electric motors through a gearbox(es) to the drive wheel. Whilst they often look like chunky 4x4 jeep/cars or quad, they are not and should be treated as such/driven accordingly. They should only be used on dry, flat/even, hard and level surfaces such as a cut lawn or patio. They should not be used on gradiants, soft surfaces such as sand, gravel and mud OR uneven surfaces such as fields and paddocks.
Q2: - Are the jeeps, cars and quads CE approved?
A: - Yes they are fully CE approved.
Q3: - Are the kits difficult to assemble?
A: - No, they’re not that difficult and can be put together by a keen DIY’er. However, the manual supplied with the kit by the manufacturer is very poor indeed. For this reason we provide for our customers an assembly and user manual, specially written by us. Its crammed full of text, photographs, step-by-step guide information and loads more, all designed to help you in assembly. We also offer a help desk service, which is available from 7:30am to 21:30, 7 days a week. You can call us and speak to a trained technician who will help you if you are stuck. We also offer a ‘ready to go’ service for those customers who really just don’t have the time to build the jeep.
Q4: - How long does the battery last? A: - This depends on a lot of factors e.g. how heavy the child is, type of surface (whether its flat or gradient etc.). Obviously the battery will last much longer if its on a flat smooth surface as opposed to a hilly, gravel surface. Typically, if the jeep, car or quad used on a flat, solid surface and is used intermittently, then the charge will last for several hours without any problem.
Q5: - Are the jeeps, cars and quads supplied with seat belts? A: - Yes, some models are. Please read the specification and view our photographs to confirm for the model you are interested in.
Q6: - Are your products supplied with parental remote control?
A: - We do not source or stock any item with parental control, for two reasons:
1. In our experience, parents using such control can inadvertently cause the car to judder and move sharply and quickly. Children have, in these circumstances, been injured through hitting their heads on the steering wheel or otherwise being thrown forwards and backwards or side to side in the car. Therefore in the interests of safety, srbWorld advise strongly against the purchase of such products.
2. If the adult isn't remotely 'driving' the item (e.g. when the child is able to 'drive' the item without assistance), then its much harder for the child to steer it, because of the remote control system.
Q7: - Is the jeep, car or quad 6 volt or 12 volt? A: - Where our products have two 6 volt batteries (see the full product specification), then they are two speed. On slow speed they draw the power from one 6 volt battery and for high speed, the batteries are placed in ‘series’ to give 12 volts and the high speed. Given this, these models are both 6 volt and 12 volt. All models with one battery are one voltage. Please see the product specification to confirm the voltage of the item you are considering.
Q8: - How do I care for the product once I’ve purchased it? A: - The product is simple to maintain and all information is included in our assembly and user manual. Some general tips are: - Check the item thoroughly before use to ensure all fittings are tight and safe. - Always lift the drive wheels off the ground to move the item without its own power. - Charge the battery in between uses. - Never leave the battery on charge permanently. - Always disconnect the battery once you have finished using the item. - Cover the item when in storage to stop dust, condensation and little fingers see http://www.srbworld.com/products/195.aspx - For other useful information, please see your assembly and user manual.
Q9: - Do you keep spares and consumable parts? A: - Yes, srbWorld hold a comprehensive range of spare parts and accessories for their products. Customers shopping for spare parts and accessories on our website enjoy a shipping discount for multiple items as all shipping costs are consolidated into one charge, which is calculated by the weight of the parcel. Spare parts and accessories are normally shipped on a 3 business day delivery basis.
Q10: I’ve heard that motors and gearboxes are a ‘problem’ on these type of products. Is this correct? A: - No, this is not the case however, these items are consumable parts and are designed (rather like the fuse in a wiring system) to break IF the item is inappropriately used or abused. For this reason there is no warranty (as the item is doing its job) OR heavy duty versions as having such versions is rather like replacing a fuse that keeps blowing, with a 6" nail!!
These items are consumables and do just wear out. However, they can fail prematurely and there is normally a very good reason for this. The most popular are listed below:
1st most popular: Inappropriate use. - For example product overloaded, used on other than flat ground, used on inappropriate surface e.g. gravel, sand, mud or in a field instead of a fine lawn.
2nd most popular: Abuse. - For example, product driven into things (e.g. a kerb, shed, wall, fence etc) and the driver keeps their foot on the throttle. - Parents/driver moving the car by pushing it as opposed to lifting the drive wheels off the ground.
3rd most popular: Incorrect use. - For example the driver changes direction (i.e. from forwards to reverse) without completely stopping the jeep first.
4th most popular: Incorrect assembly. - For example, the wheels (front and/or rear) are too tight. This has a similar affect to your own car if you were to try and drive with the brakes on.
We do supply these items as spare parts. Please log onto the spare parts section of our website to order your requirements.
Q11: - Can I collect? A: - We are a mail order company only and cannot offer a collection service. However, our delivery charges are very competitive AND we can offer are very flexible i.e. delayed delivery so that you don't have to hide the present from the kids for as long.
Q12: - Do you stock parts for other jeeps, cars and quads?
A: - We stock a range of spares and consumable items. We are only able to recommend and support fitting them to our own models, however they are common to other suppliers. Please see our comprehensive range of spares on our website for further information. Please be aware that where we correctly supply spare parts, but then you find they do not fit your model, then we do not accept the parts back for credit.
Q13: -If I want you to post me a copy of the assembly and user manual, will you do this? Yes we will do this for you. We chage a fee of £15 to cover admininistration, materials and shipping. Please call us to arrange for you.
